To apply what they have learnt about Financial Literacy in school, our Primary 1 – 3 students visited Marketplace and Food Streat at Junction City.
In groups comprising of students from each level, the students had to purchase the ingredients and items needed for their group assignment – to make one of the dishes for their lunch on 24 May.
Prior to the trip, the students already had a discussion to decide how much budget each group would be assigned with.
At the supermarket, the students had to use their financial literacy, numeracy and collaboration skills to ensure that they purchase all the items needed and keep within the budget assigned.
After purchasing the items, the students had lunch at Food Streat, where they chose from the wide range of food stalls available and make purchases that was within their own personal budget as well.
After returning from the trip, students applied their literacy skills by writing about what they saw and learnt during the trip.
We will like to thank Marketplace and Food Streat and their staff for their hospitality towards us. We will also like to thank Teachers Fretsie, Jasmine, Tin and Nicholas for leading each group.
