To learn more about the history of Myanmar, our Primary Level students visited the Yangon Secretariat, which was the spot where General Aung San and six cabinet ministers were assassinated by a gang of armed paramilitaries on 19 July 1947. This day is now commemorated as Martyrs’ Day.

This year’s SIS STEAM Fair was conducted in conjunction with the World Science Day for Peace and Development 2019, with the theme ‘Open Science, leaving no one behind’.

Besides explaining about their respective projects during the exhibition held in the afternoon, our Pri 4 to Sec 3 students had to give a Powerpoint presentation to the judges in the morning.

During the exhibition, parents and staff were also encouraged to vote for their favourite STEAM Fair Projects.

A total of 83 votes were received and we will like to thank all parents and staff for their participation.

We will also like to thank all students for your active participation. We were certainly impressed by the quality of the projects this year and look forward to next year’s STEAM Fair.

As part of SIS’s aim to develop students’ 21st Century Skills, we have been organising our annual Fancy Dress Showcase since 2015.

The theme for this year’s Fancy Dress Showcase is Book or Movie Characters, and students have to create their costume or a part of their costume using recycled materials.

It’s good to see the creativity that our students have displayed and we will like to thank their parents for the support that you have provided to your children. We hope that you had fun working with your children on their mini art projects.

In Myanmar, teachers are greatly respected and revered, and are accorded with the highest reverence, together with the Buddha, the Dhamma, the Sangha, and one’s parents.

Every year, during the month of Thadingyut, homage paying ceremonies are held all over the country where during such ceremonies, students affirm their love and respect for their teachers.

RVi conducted our annual Paying Homage Ceremony on 31 October 2019 to remind our students to not only love and respect their teachers, but also their parents as well, and we are glad that even our non-Buddhist students, parents and teachers take part in our ceremony every year.

On behalf of the RVi Group in Yangon, we will like to thank all students from SIS and RVi Institute, and their parents, for attending our ceremony this year. May everyone be blessed with good health and prosperity.

To unwind after the examinations, our High School students went bowling. For some of them, it was their first time and although they found it difficult to bowl in a straight line, most enjoyed the game and we are glad to introduce a new sport to our students.
