Congratulations to all students and teachers for their outstanding performance in the 2019 May/June Cambridge IGCSE examinations!
As part of SIS’s aim to contribute to the society, the students from Primary 6 to Secondary 3 classes represented us to present the donations purchased with the funds raised from our Charity Fun Fair held on the last day of Term 3.
Items including school bags, footwear, stationery and food worth about 1 million kyats were donated and our students also entertained the students with performances. We wish the children all the best and hope to meet them again next time.

Meet Tan Wei Zhi, 16, who is currently preparing to take the Cambridge International A-Level examinations in November this year. He will receive his provisional results in January 2020 and will be eligible to apply for universities in Singapore, USA, UK, etc. with them.
Wei Zhi, who is interested in studying Medicine or Computer Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS), is one year ahead of his compatriots in Singapore, as they are still in their first year of Junior College and will only sit for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level examinations at the end of 2020 and receive their results in February 2021.
“I will like to thank Mr Argus Ang, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore International School: RVi Academy Yangon, as well as the management team and my teachers, for their guidance and support throughout my studies here,” said Wei Zhi, who received 4 Distinctions in the 2014 Singapore International Primary School Examination (iPSLE) and 5 Distinctions in the 2017 Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations, “Through the personalised attention and counselling provided to me at SIS, I was able to understand the different pathways available in different countries so that I could plan for my further education.”
“We are very proud of Wei Zhi’s achievements and wish him all the best in the upcoming Cambridge examinations,” said Mr Melvyn Chung, Principal of SIS. “He has studied with us for 7 years since Primary 4 and has participated as a student ambassador in various events such as the ASEAN-Myanmar Forum and as an intern in team-building trainings organised by our associate, RVi Institute.”

On 2 November, we conducted our yearly Fancy Dress Competition to develop students’ 21st Century Skills in Creativity and Communication. The theme this year is ‘Cartoon Characters or Occupations’. Besides being assessed on their attire, students also had to showcase their character through their individual photograph and explain what character they are dressed in and why they have chosen to dress up as this character.
We will like to thank all students who participated in this event and their parents / guardians who assisted them in their preparation.
Winners will be announced during our RVi Talent Show and Christmas Celebration held on 14 December 2018.
On 17 October, we presented the awards to the winners of the Food Display Competition (for Primary Level students) and Healthy Food Cooking Competition (for Secondary and A Level students) which were conducted in Term 1.
Each competition was conducted in groups, which required students to showcase their creativity and collaboration.

As part of our aim to promote a love of Mathematics and encourage critical thinking, we conducted the finals of the SIS Maths Competition on 26 September 2018. Besides the finalists, the students from each level who did not make it to the finals also had a chance to participate during the Audience Participation round.
On 15 October 2018, we presented the awards to the students who took part in the Finals of the SIS Maths Competition which was conducted in Term 1.
